RYK has recently released the Vector Wave Eurorack module combining two synth icons of the 1980s, FM and vector synthesis.
The Vector Wave Eurorack module works by combining the power of both FM and vector synthesis. At its core, the Vector Wave module features 16 oscillators, divided into four banks. The oscillators can be configured into series or parallel combinations for complex FM or additive synthesis. Vectors can be recorded from the joystick and replayed from trigger sources to morph between oscillator banks, adding dynamic movement to your performances.
RYK Modular is a boutique Eurorack module manufacturer based in London, known for producing high-quality, hand-built modules with unique features and designs. The company was founded in 2009 and has quickly gained a reputation among synthesizer enthusiasts for their innovative and functional modules. One of their most popular modules is the M185 step sequencer, which features an intuitive interface, built-in quantization, and the ability to store up to 64 patterns.
After the M185 was released in Eurorack format the Vector Wave followed quickly after. It's matte black panel, minimal primary colored buttons, and layout borrow from the aesthetics of the M185 but with the addition of a retro red pixel screen.
On inputs and outputs, an on-trend midi input is included. Midi has been a welcome addition to many complex polyphonic multitimbral oscillators. An expander module is available that adds three more gate and octave inputs, but for those setups that support midi, it really helps to reduce some of the cable clutter.
The Vector Wave is a stereo module that can really take advantage of the CV modulation inputs to the built in envelopes and LFOs. The Modulation Slot patching enables external and internal routing to any parameter in the Vector Wave.
